The Department of Mathematics offers Masters and Ph.D. degrees in a pleasant environment. The aim of the program is to prepare students to successful research careers in mathematics. Our department has strong national and international ties with many major institutions around the world. Each year several of our graduates go to prestigious universities abroad to pursue their studies.

Currently our department comprises around 20 faculty members and 31 graduate students (8 Ph.D., 23 M.Sc.) . With our distinguished and experienced faculty, we provide a solid foundation in a wide variety of research areas both in pure and applied mathematics:

- Algebraic Geometry

- Combinatorics

- Commutative Algebra

- Differential Geometry

- Functional Analysis

- Functions of a Complex Variable

- Global Analysis

- Group Theory and Generalizations

- Integral Equations

- Mathematical Logic

- Number Theory

- Numerical Analysis

- Operator Theory

- Partial Differential Equations

- Probability Theory and Stochastic Processes

- Relativity and Gravitational Theory

For more information, please look at our list of thesis and publications up to now.

Besides regular colloquium lectures, there are also student seminars and research seminars in various fields. Additionally, there are several workshops and schools throughout the year at Istanbul Center for Mathematical Sciences (IMBM) which is located at our campus. Due to our central position, it is easy to access other activities in Istanbul as well.

As financial aid, we offer several teaching assistantships every semester. Moreover, some of our faculty members have projects to support students. Please check with the faculty member that you wish to study. There are also various financial supports provided by our university and its foundation. As for the accommodation, you may consider dormitories of our university. Note that 4th North Dorm is exclusively for graduate students.

We invite enthusiastic and talented students to apply to our department to share the beauty and joy of mathematics with us.
